A drive through valleys and hills of the Istrian inland will leave you breathless. We will stop in the valley near Motovun - the most picturesque hilltop town of inner Istria, situated on a hill above the Mirna River, very close to the Motovun forest, a habitat of the black and white truffles. Truffles are underground mushrooms and people believe they have aphrodisiac powers. Istria is rich with truffles, so let’s try to find one! Your will meet your English speaking guide that has 25 years of experience and his specially trained dogs. After an aperitif, we will go to the forest to experience the adventure of the truffle hunt . After the activity of searching the truffles, our host will show you how to prepare a traditional Istrian meal with truffles . Our friendly hosts will serve you many truffle delicacies which you can also buy at the estate. MOTOVUN old town is just above, so on our way back we will go for a short walk through old town and enjoy breathtaking view on famous Motovun forest. Time for sightseeing you can use to visit 27 meters high bell tower of Motovun, a landmark dominating over the entire landscape of the middle Mirna valley, Motovun walls, date back to the 11th and 12th centuries, main tower gate, loggia, municipal palace and many others cultural features from different historical period, and for the end of the day, take a coffee or tea in the coffee shop by city wall and enjoy breathtaking view on famous Motovun forest and Mirna valley.

Behind the preserved city walls, there are its two narrow cobblestone streets with three rows of houses. Driving towards picturesque MOTOVUN, you will enjoy beautiful nature. From the medieval walls of picturesque Motovun, spread upon the very edges of the hill, you'll have marvelous view on Mirna River valley and Motovun forest. Driving further in the Istrian countryside to the medieval fortified town of OPRTALJ with an authentic Istrian feel, like very few places still have. The Venetian loggia brings a special kind of fondness of Oprtalj, a small but incredibly charming town. GROŽNJAN is our next stop, where you will experience local culture and architecture. Groznjan is today a town of artists: numerous galleries are lining the narrow, cobble stone streets, small shops and cafes are tempting from old buildings and it is a home of a popular jazz festival. Excursion includes lunch stop with truffles specialties and grappa tasting in traditional distillery. Truffles are underground mushrooms and people believe they have aphrodisiac powers. Kvarner hilltop towns: Mošćenice - Kastav - Trsat

In MOŠĆENICE, a medieval hilltop town whose history dates back to the time of the Liburnians you will enjoy beautifull view on whole Kvarner bay and learn about its rich history since Mošćenice had its own constitution, dating back to the first half of the 17th century. Drop by the ethnographic collection at the town gate and look at the considerable number of folk costumes, old tools, items and pieces of decoration – all witnesses of our ancestor’s past. The 300 years old town olive oil mill, the Mošćenički Toš, is situated close to the collection, an absolute symbol of this medieval town. Before leaving Mošćenice, do not forget to take a break at the town lodge. A part of Rijeka called TRSAT is a historic fortress on the steep hill 138 m high, rising over the gorge of the Rječina river. It was strategically significant from the earliest times right up to the 17th century. Today, on Trsat you can enjoy nice walk through old part of the town, admire beautiful view on whole Kvarner bay, drink a coffee and absorb the atmosphere. In old town of KASTAV you can enter through Voltica - the town’s gate, refurbished in 1731. Visit the old Kaštel from the the 15th century and the Church of the Holy Trinity. At the heart of the town is Lokvina - main town square.

Učka Nature Park

UČKA NATURE PARK’s highest peak is Vojak. It is also the highest peak on the Istrian peninsula, rising 1,401 metres above sea level. The Vojak Tower was built in 1911 to benefit from the mountain’s wonderful panoramic views of Istria, the Kvarner Bay with the islands, mountains in the Gorski Kotar, Mount Velebit, the Alps, and Italy. The tower was built by mountain climbers and nature enthusiasts from the Österreichischer Touristen Club in the Austro-Hungarian period. The old pipe is called The “Water of Joseph II”, located in a small rural settlement called Vela Učka, on the western slopes of Učka Nature Park. The fountain was built during the reign of the Habsburg Monarchy, at the time when the road over Učka was constructed. One of the most attractive sites within Učka Nature Park is the canyon of Vela draga. This natural phenomenon, which the forces of nature – earthquakes, wind, sun and water – first began shaping as early as the Tertiary period (140 million years ago), has been protected since 1963 as a natural reserve, and since 1998 as a geomorphological nature monument. The Vela Draga educational trail passes along the edge of this impressive canyon. Interpretation boards inform visitors in four languages about this nature monument of extraordinary geomorphological value. The text on the boards is written in easy-to-understand popular scientific language to explain geological phenomena such as the origins of the Učka massif and this canyon. Above the canyon is a well-tended vantage point where walkers can rest for a while and admire the magnificent view of the limestone towers.

National Park Plitvice Lakes

PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK is part of UNESCO World Heritage and one of the oldest national parks in Southeast Europe, largest in Croatia. Take a trip to world famous national park, Plitvice Lakes arranged in cascades. The 16 lakes that can be seen from the surface are grouped into the 12 Upper Lakes (Gornja jezera) and the 4 Lower Lakes (Donja jezera). The highest waterfall is the Large Waterfall (78m). Every season has its own unique charm and the Plitvice Lakes with their alternating colors and every new awakening, both trapped in ice or in the shade of the trees, will leave you with a very distinct, unique and invaluable impression. Visit in one day beautiful nature wonder, LIM CHANNEL and romantic walled old town of ROVINJ! Lim Channel is one of the most beautiful natural resources of the Istrian peninsula. Lim Bay is 10 kilometers long and 30 meters deep and its widest part is around 600 meters wide. From both sides very steep mountains rise, in some parts even up tp 100 meters. The geological beginnings are interpreted through the erosive activity of the Pazincica, a rivulet that now is in its largest part a small gulf. The Illyrians were building their colonies, the Illyrian forts, on the surrounding mountains. On the southern side, nearby the quayside and the restaurant, some hundred meters high, Romualdo's cave is located, where during the 11th century and later church ceremonies were held. Forty years ago, a movie on Vikings was made here, "The Vikings", with Kirk Douglas in the leading role.
